Looking Back on July 7th Chapter Meeting – Hospital Sing

Looking Back on July 7th Chapter Meeting – Hospital Sing

(This message is prepared for your review if you were there, for your information if you had to miss, and as a historical record of the great things going on each week at an Alexandria Harmonizer Chapter meeting. —Ye Ed.)

This was our annual sing out at the Alexandria Hospital – sort of like Christmas caroling in July. We have done it for many years on this week after International convention, since many guys are still on vacation. And we also know that the hospital likes us to do it in July since so many people sing during the winter holiday season.

Ye Ed did not make it this time, but Alan Wile reports to me via phone that there were about 20 folks there. Director Joe, Will Cox, Tony Colosimo and Bob Wachter shared the arm waving duties.

The chorus sang three songs at each of about 8 stations throughout the hospital on Seminary Road.

No official business matters were conducted.

Looking Back on Extra Rehearsal June 25th

Looking Back on Extra Rehearsal June 25th

(This message is prepared for your review if you were there, for your information if you had to miss, and as a historical record of the great things going on each week at an Alexandria Harmonizer Chapter meeting. —Ye Ed.)

The chorus met in the school adjoining Durant, Jeff Houston, on Thurs. for an extra rehearsal in prep for the International chorus competition in Anaheim.

There was a good turn out but it was really hot in the hall -- not just from the great music, and big crowd on the risers, but from summer's heat and humidity.

When Ye Ed arrived about 9:15 (after another meeting) I found them reviewing video of their Tues nite work and then comparing their work with some gold medalists in previous Internationals. Director Joe was enthusiastic with the nite's work ethic by the chorus.

The meeting of course concentrated on contest sets over and over. New benches used for "Clap Yo Hands" were shipped to CA so the front row used the old ones for the nite's work out.

Another news item to report from the nite was word from Director Joe that he had been named new director of the Pride of Baltimore Sweet Adeline Intl. Chorus. Congrats! Great to have him working with two great choruses in the metro area.

Until next time - editorjack!
