Looking Back on the Dec. 23rd TV Appearance and Holiday/December-January Reminders

Fox News DC invited the Harmonizers to sing carols on air Monday morning 12/23. Joe Cerutti was director and Terry Reynolds helped put together a small group of singers for a very early 7:15 am call at Market Square in Old Town Alexandria.  They sang some of the songs from the holiday show and wore the Santa hats too!

Our holiday show on Dec. 21st was a great success – watch for another report about it.

As a reminder, there will be no rehearsal on Dec. 24th nor on Dec. 31st.

The annual Heat Glow will be Sat. Jan. 4th at Jack and Pat Pitzer’s home – 7801 Suffolk Ct., Alexandria, VA 22135.  All members and significant others are welcome.  Bring goodies to share and maybe your favorite drink. We will have the traditional non-alcoholic grog too!  7 pm start, casual dress.

Then there will be no rehearsal on Jan. 7th either.

Regular meetings resume on Jan. 14th at Scottish Rite Temple in Alexandria

In other news about the chapter, director Joe Cerutti played the learning tape for the new contest uptune for the Harmonizers during the warm up time at the show on the 21st.   It is up there and ready for all to start working on. It was arranged by Kevin Keller.

Joe also shared some plans for next year –changes in the meeting format and better use of technology for personal preparation of each singer to be shared on Jan. 14th.

He also announced that Mike Kelly has stepped down as bass section leader, and Ryan Mextorf has accepted the appointment to take over.

Joe also shared there will be the traditional interviews with each member in January and February with he and Tony doing them.

He congratulated SILVER ALERT (Savage, Edison, Cox and Murane) and PERSUASION (Kelly) quartets who have been invited to compete at the Mid Winter convention in Jacksonville.

Until next time – editorjack!

(This message is prepared for your review if you were there, for your information if you had to miss, and as a historical record of the great things going on each week during the 70th year of the Alexandria Harmonizer Chapter. —YeEd
